Decided to practice a bit while watching Sailor Moon S. (Mars’ legs got away from me OOPS)
Their casual outfits can be really cute sometimes, but I’m having a lot of trouble finding one to draw for Venus. A lot of her clothes are just baaad.
I’ll get Mercury and Jupiter cleaned up soon.
I found a scanner
Better quality pics of some more characters.
Esther (previously Ethel)
More under cut
This is a young Victorian woman named Ethel.
I don’t quite have her design entirely down yet. I’m trying to keep consistency in the ‘roundness’ of her skirt and sleeves, need to finalize a boot design. The problem I’m having is drawing bigger so I can get her facial details correctly.
Drawing the wing was really fun and I can’t wait to do it again, and correctly.
geez I haven’t digital painted in forever
Great to see I still adore bold colors
Doing this for a friend because I promised
Here have a terribly rendered flag (that is not how folds work jfc did you learn nothing from years of still life assignments?)
p.s. there is supposed to be a hand holding it in the middle where it seems to inexplicably disappear into a wormhole in the pole and reappear a bit further down.
p.p.s. This is unacceptable, I’m going to redo the folds
p.p.p.s. also I got tired of the default ps brushes and used Kecky’s Magical Brushes, particularly the 6th one called “Smoooooth” which wonderfully lives up to its name
Decided to try my hand with pixels with the pencil tool, instead of the brush tool in photoshop.
I grabbed one of the Kozue character concepts from the Utena movie gallery at Empty Movement and went to work at it. Maybe I should have done her car form…
(there’s so much visual information for the front of her hair and not the back so it looks flat, and it’s where I decided to call it quits on this image)
Edit: good god that looks terrible. Here, have a grey background
This was for a meme post going around, about “if you were the person in your icon for one day what would you do?” The icon for my main account is a shot of David Tennant dressed as the hot companion assistant to Doctor Who in a sketch on a British comedy show.
If I was my icon for a day, I would spend the entire time traveling around in the TARDIS.
I’m posting this here anyway because I spent an unbelievable amount of time for such simplicity. It’s really sinking in just how rusty I’ve gotten, and using that context I’m actually really proud of the work I put into it.
Adding a little spice to the mix.
This is my first work toward sketching again.
The character shown is a mechanic of some sort, she uses her experience with steam-powered engines to fix any airship that comes into her shop.
